Ralph Johns
Wellington Bike Life profiles people who ride bikes in Wellington. Today we meet daily rider, Ralph Johns.
"Kia ora. My name's Ralph. I live in Ngaio. I've got three kids, all teenagers now.
My bike's a freedom machine. I really love it just for exploring but mostly I use it to
get to work and back."
Ralph says he's a big supporter of plans to reduce the number of cars in the central city.
He likes the changes Wellington City Council has made to Thorndon Quay to make it better for cycling.
"The problem on Thorndon Quay was the angle parking. Since it's gone to parallel it's so much better."
Ralph says he'd like the Council to prioritize cycling routes to schools.
"It's great for kids' independence, great for their confidence, and you're taking a huge amount of traffic off the streets."
