Have your say.

Cycle Wellington has provided suggested responses for each question in the survey below. There is the option for quick or detailed feedback.

For quick:

Overall, do you support the ideas for improvements between Miramar Town Centre and the city?

Somewhat supportive

If you have any comments about the overall ideas, please share them here.

I prefer protected bike lanes on both sides of these streets. We need dedicated bike lanes to protect people on bikes, and to cater for increasing demand. Paneke Pōneke is aimed at people who would like to cycle, but prefer not to mix with large, busy, or fast traffic. Sharing with high frequency bus lanes undermines mode shift, climate action, and safety goals. Unprotected bike lanes at this location do not meet Waka Kotahi guidelines.

Do you support the idea of introducing raised pedestrian crossings and improvements to intersections to make it safer and easier for people, especially those with limited mobility?

Supportive

Do you support our ideas to improve the reliability and efficiency of buses?

Somewhat supportive

Do you support the idea of introducing cycle lanes along sections of this route to improve safety for people of all ages riding bikes?

Somewhat supportive

For detailed:

Mt Victoria

Do you support these ideas for improving safety for people walking in Mount Victoria?

Supportive

Tell us why.

Raised crossings, if designed correctly, offer improved pedestrian safety as they tend to slow motor vehicles.

Hataitai

Taurima Street proposals (x3)

Tell us why.

These proposals rebalance priority and safety towards people travelling on foot, by bike, and by bus. They align with Wellington's liveability, safety, mode shift, and climate action goals.

While it’s encouraging to see these plans, we need to go further to meet our safety, mode shift and climate action goals. Why not upgrade the direct route between Miramar and the City, from Cobham Drive, along Wellington Road to Hamilton Road and Hataitai? What’s the plan to protect people on foot and bikes between the Miramar cutting and Shelly Bay, especially during construction? Where’s the connections from Kilbirnie to the cycleway on Crawford Road and on Newtown? Where’s the connections within Miramar?
